Docu’Ma Order

This information bears little importance on the main story. It would be of great importance were the prequel ever by revisited.

Levels of service

Basic explanation: each level has several advancement layers- junior, apprentice, full, and Master. When you are a full level you are simply called by that level name. For example a Full Sentinel would simply be called a sentinel, whereas a Junior Sentinel would be called such. Those who have reached the Master Level can be referred to simply as Master. Kind of like someone who had received a PHD can be called Dr. Master is a generic Term. Entry into the order is obtained through training at the academy. Upon graduation full level status can be immediately conferred by the Docu’Ma Council of Elders if the individual shows enough promise. Multiple levels can be acquired once full status has been reached. A Full Level Sentinel, for instance can be granted Apprentice level of another class such as Warrior of Guardian. In rare cases full level status may be directly conferred upon a full member of another class. This is rare, but not unheard of. Some classes have multiple levels.

Cleric – lowest class of service, no training required. There are no advancements in this level. It is not a dungeons and dragons type of Cleric. That would be more like the knight. This cleric is a paper pusher. They are trained in the day to day rules of the order and do what has to be done to keep things going. They train all first time apprentices in the basic tenets of the Docu’Ma religion and often teach at the University. Some Docu’Ma spend their entire lives as clerics. It is considered very honorable.

Sentinel – Entry class warrior priest. Spend lots of time doing basic low level “army” types of tasks… like peace keeping, patrolling, scouting, and so forth. The majority of the Royal guard are Sentinel level.

Guide – spend time mapping star systems, searching for criminals, doing long range reconnaissance, and similar types of things. Some Guides are specifically assigned to one star system for the rest of their lives. They will learn everything about it, and get to know it. They do have lives outside of their assignment system. Master level Guides are rare. Jarric O’Dahn is one of these.

Warrior – just as the name implies, this class is the front line defense the Unification uses in major warfare. Warriors can be gifted with supernatural powers, but it is rarely seen, and those that do often end up as knights. The warrior class serves as the command level class over the sentinels.

Ranger – similar to guides, but more generic. Rangers also are trained in warfare and long range combat. They usually work in conjunction with Guides prior to the invasion of a star system.

Lore Mage– this level is only reachable as a second class assignment to existing Masters. These Master warriors often display supernatural powers that manifest only after many years of training in the order. They can sometimes heal wounds and have foresight.

Guardian – these royal guardians commit their lives to the service of the royal family. Becoming an apprentice guardian is considered an honor, as very few guardians exist. Any member of the order may be granted this class. Only one Master Guardian exists at any one time. This Master guardian’s identity is not always publicly known. At the beginning of our story, Dark Star (aka Jarric O’Dahn) is the Royal Master Guardian.

General – This class of service requires Master level in two other classes. The General class is the Ruling class in Renari Society. They also seem to dominate galactic politics as well.

Master General/High Priest - It is considered separate from General Class simply because so few individuals ever reach it. Once someone achieves Master General they are ordained as a High Priest or Priestess. Jarric O’Dahn is the youngest Master General ever to have been ordained.
